the infant care program at First Steps

Babies are born wanting to learn, like little scientists.

They explore and learn through all their senses even before they can crawl. We encourage this learning by providing new opportunities for them to touch, taste, smell, grab, and listen to the world around them in a safe and nurturing environment.

Individualized care

Our infants program includes:

  • From sign language and story time in younger classrooms, to phonics and eventually reading and writing in our older ones, your child develops important literacy skills and a love of reading.
  • Our social studies domain helps children understand themselves and their relationships with family and friends.
  • Early experiences with math help children develop reasoning skills, inventiveness and persistence in problem solving.
  • Active children become active adults. We show your child fun ways to practice proper techniques for movement, balance and motor skills with plenty of time to slide, climb and run on our age-appropriate playgrounds.
  • Our program weaves character development and life skills into daily experiences so children can learn behavioral and relationship skills.

Our Infant program nurtures Active Minds, Healthy Bodies and Happy Hearts

Throughout the day, you will see Infant teachers talk and sing with your child during feeding, diapering and playtime. This interaction helps your baby begin to understand language and conversation. Our staff pays close attention to all aspects of your child’s development. Here are some examples of experiences that will captivate your baby in the  Infant program.

Toddler

Our Toddler Class is a nurturing, stimulating environment where little ones can learn to explore multiple sights, sounds, and textures

Preschool

Our Preschool Class extends its' curriculum to include activities that work to broaden children's vocabulary, skills, and give them a strong foundation.

Pre-Kindergarten

We offer a learning experience that will fully prepare children and families for the transition into elementary school.
